Joss Whedon Takes No Break

Joss Whedon was supposed to be on break after filming of The Avengers, instead he secretly directed a feature film. The film came together in a month including 12 days of shooting in Whedon’s home.

Much Ado About Nothing, a black and white “noir comedy” take of  William Shakespeare’s play, stars many Whedon veterans including Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Sean Maher, Alexis Denisof, Reed Diamond, Clark Gregg and many others.

Maher described the vibe of the film as “contemporary” and realistic. “The direction we were getting from Joss was to make it was real, especially with the language, not to be big and Shakespearian, but to bring it in and be intimate and bring it as close to a realistic way of speaking as we could,” he said.

No distribution company has picked up Much Ado, but Whedon hopes to be released in the festival circuit in 2012.

Not much detail on the film’s website.
